Kylie Ganko

Teacher

Kylie is a registered classical ballet teacher with the Royal Academy of Dance. Kylie’s love of ballet began at the age of 6 when she first started lessons in Brisbane. She moved to Sydney aged 16 to continue her ballet studies after being accepted full-time at the Australian Academy of Ballet with Valrene Tweedie and then at the Halliday School of Ballet with Joan and Monica Halliday. Her  training included classical and modern ballet, jazz, tap, repertoire and choreography.

While gaining extensive performance experience in many concerts and eisteddfods, Kylie also pursued technical qualifications culminating in gaining her RAD Advanced certificate.

Unfortunately a chronic knee injury prevented Kylie from continuing to pursue ballet as a career. She returned to Brisbane to study Human Movement Studies and Physiotherapy at the University of Queensland, graduating in 1989. Kylie practised as a Physiotherapist for many years before leaving the profession to raise her four children full-time. During this time she continued her involvement with the ballet as a patron of both Queensland Ballet and the Australian Ballet and has passed on her love of this art form to her 3 daughters.

With her children all grown up, Kylie decided to put her extensive dance background and physiotherapy knowledge to use as a classical ballet teacher. She attained her Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies from the RAD in 2019. Since then she has taught many young dancers aged from 4 to 18 years at a number of schools in Brisbane and on the Gold Coast. Kylie is dedicated to instilling her passion for classical ballet technique and performance in the next generation of young dancers.
